The Surry and Stokes County Gang Grant Initiative is supported with funds from the
North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
THE PROCESS:
Year One (2009-2010) of the Surry and Stokes Counties Gang Violence Prevention Grant will include adherence to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Comprehensive Gang Model Assessment Guide (2009) to assess local needs and the formalization of a Strategic Implementation Document based on the findings of the needs assessment. The needs assessment process (expected to take 9 to 12 months) will be comprehensive in nature, and will include (but not limited to) the following assessment activities:

After the needs assessment process is complete, the Surry and Stokes Counties Gang Grant
Prevention Committee with the assistance of the full Surry and Surry County JCPCs will determine the most appropriate evidenced based principals to be implemented (that are also culturally appropriate) for Surry and Stokes Counties during Year Two (2010-11). After consultation of local stakeholders, the Surry and Stokes County Implementation Plans will be published at the end of Grant Year One outlying future project activities and justifications for action.
The Surry and Stokes County Needs Assessment and Implementation Documents will be research quality and formally published in paper, digital, and web formats to all stake holders.
